Our History

General Introduction

The Ho Chi Minh City Automation Association (hereinafter referred to as “the Association”) was officially established on June 24, 1995, under Decision No. 4637/QĐ-UB-NCVX issued by the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City. Initially, it was named the Ho Chi Minh City Science and Technology Association for Automation.

Over the past 20 years of development (1995–2015), through the dedicated efforts of the Executive Committee (EC) across successive terms and the active contributions of a wide range of members—including individuals, organizations, and businesses operating in the field of automation—the Association has carried out numerous impactful activities, contributing to the industrialization and modernization process of Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring regions.

Mission and Objectives

The Ho Chi Minh City Automation Association is a professional and social organization comprised of voluntary individuals and entities—including businesses, research and training institutions, manufacturers, intellectuals, and other stakeholders in the field of automation in Ho Chi Minh City.

The Association’s main purpose is to unite its members, protect their legitimate rights and interests, foster mutual support for efficient operation, and contribute to the socio-economic development of the country.

Development Timeline and Key Milestones

Below is a summary of the Association’s significant milestones and activities from 1994 to 2015:

  • Dec 28, 1994: Vietnam Association of Automation signed Decision No. 03/TC-HTĐ to establish the Ho Chi Minh City Science and Technology Association for Automation.

  • Jun 24, 1995: Official establishment approved by the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City.

  • Sep 29, 1995: 1st General Assembly successfully held.

  • 1996–1998: Led the “Traffic Control” research project with valuable findings for traffic management in HCMC.

  • 1997: Established a sub-association at Vietnam–Russia Oil and Gas Joint Venture in Vung Tau.

  • Apr 1997: Co-organized the IT Forum with Ho Chi Minh City Informatics Association and Electronics–Radio Association.

  • Jun 1997: Held a joint seminar with Da Nang Automation Association on automation’s role in industrialization.

  • 1998: Participated in key research assessing automation in major industries in HCMC.

  • Dec 1998: Recognized for contributions to events celebrating “300 Years of Saigon–Ho Chi Minh City.”

  • 1998–2001: Actively involved in Ho Chi Minh City’s Scientific & Technical Innovation Contests.

  • Feb 1, 2001: 2nd General Assembly successfully held.

  • 2002: Established Robotics Sub-association and Automation Sub-association at HCMC University of Technical Education.

  • 2003–2007: Contributed to the development and application program for Mechatronics and Automation at VNU-HCM.

  • Dec 2003: Organized Automation Day with the HCMC Science and Technology Information Center.

  • Dec 2004: Co-hosted the 2nd Automation Tech Fair.

  • 2004–2005: Participated in tech transfer and automation programs; proposed HCMC Automation Development Program (2005–2010).

  • 2005: Celebrated 10th Anniversary; received recognition from Vietnam Automation Association; nominated for the Third-class Labor Medal.

  • Sep 2007: Welcomed 15 automation enterprises from Malaysia in a professional exchange.

  • Dec 15, 2007: 3rd General Assembly successfully organized.

  • 2009: Participated in the International Industrial Automation Exhibition (IA) in HCMC.

  • 2009–2010: Organized HCMC Automation Football Tournament.

  • Nov 2010: Contributed feedback at the seminar on “Traffic Management and Control Center for HCMC.”

  • 2010–2011: Collaborated in the “Productivity–Quality–Lean for Vietnamese Enterprises” program with HCMC Mechanical Association.

  • Aug–Oct 2011 & 2012: Held successful Automation Futsal Tournaments.

  • 2013: Official launch of HAuA’s website.

  • Mar 29, 2014: 4th General Assembly successfully held; founded two specialized divisions:

    • Production & Business Division (replacing the Enterprise Club)

    • Research & Training Division

  • 2014: Received certificate of merit from the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations.

  • Nov 2014: Renamed to “Ho Chi Minh City Automation Association” under Decision No. 5645/QĐ-UBND.

  • Dec 13, 2014: Established the Automation Engineers Club under HAuA.

  • Jan 23, 2015: Held an All-member Meeting for HAuA.

  • Aug 18–20, 2015: Participated in the Vietnam International Exhibition on Industrial and Civil Electricity and Automation.

  • Oct 28, 2015: Successfully organized Automation Day 2015 with the theme “Celebrating 20 Years of HAuA”; received commendation flag from the Vietnam Association of Automation.
