Our History

General Introduction

The Ho Chi Minh City Automation Association (hereinafter referred to as the Association) was established on 24 June 1995 under Decision No. 4637/QĐ-UB-NCVX of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, originally named the Ho Chi Minh City Association of Automation Science and Technology.

Over more than 30 years of establishment and development (1995–2026), through the efforts of the Association’s Executive Committee across successive terms and the contributions of its numerous individual, organizational, and corporate members operating in the field of automation, the Association has undertaken many activities contributing to the industrialization and modernization of Ho Chi Minh City and its surrounding areas.

Among these activities, Automation Day has been organized annually by the Association and continues to this day, providing a forum for exchanges and connections among regulatory authorities, experts, research institutes, educational institutions, and enterprises, while introducing technologies, sharing experience, and promoting cooperation in the application of automation in production.

Mission and Objectives

The Ho Chi Minh City Automation Association is a professional and social organization comprised of voluntary individuals and entities—including businesses, research and training institutions, manufacturers, intellectuals, and other stakeholders in the field of automation in Ho Chi Minh City.

The Association’s main purpose is to unite its members, protect their legitimate rights and interests, foster mutual support for efficient operation, and contribute to the socio-economic development of the country.

Development Timeline and Key Milestones

Below is a summary of the Association’s significant milestones and activities from 1994 to 2015:

• 24th June 1995: The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee issued Decision No. 4637/QĐ-UB-NCVX authorizing the establishment of the Ho Chi Minh City Association of Automation Science and Technology with full legal personality.
• 29th September 1995: Successfully held the First Congress.
• 1996–1998: Led the implementation of the “Traffic Control” research project, drawing valuable conclusions for traffic control in Ho Chi Minh City.
• 1997: Established a chapter at the Vietnam–Russia Petroleum Joint Venture in Vung Tau.
• April 1997: Collaborated with the Ho Chi Minh City Computer Association and the Ho Chi Minh City Radio and Electronics Association to organize the Information Technology Forum.
• June 1997: Collaborated with the Da Nang Association of Automation Science and Technology to organize the workshop “Automation Science and Technology in Support of National Industrialization and Modernization” in Da Nang.
• 1998: Actively participated in the research project “Survey and Assessment of the State of Automation and Computerization in Selected Key Manufacturing Industries in Ho Chi Minh City.”
• December 1998: Received a commendation from the Union of Associations for active participation in activities celebrating “300 Years of Saigon – Ho Chi Minh City.”
• 1998–2001: Actively participated in the Ho Chi Minh City Science and Technology Innovation Competition.
• 1st February 2001: Successfully held the Second Congress.
• 2002: Established the Ho Chi Minh City Robotics Chapter and the Automation Science and Technology Chapter at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education.
• Participated in developing the Mechanical Engineering and Automation Development and Application Program of Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City for 2003–2007.
• December 2003: Collaborated with the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Science and Technology Information to organize Automation Day.
• December 2004: Collaborated with the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Science and Technology Information to organize the Second Automation Technology Market.
• 2004: Participated in the program introducing technology transfer in automation.
• Led the development of the Automation Development Program in Ho Chi Minh City for 2005–2010.
• 2005: Celebrated the Association’s 10th anniversary and received an Excellent Emulation Flag from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Automation Association. The Ho Chi Minh City Union of Science and Technology Associations nominated the Association for the State’s Third-Class Labor Order.
• September 2007: Welcomed and held exchanges with a delegation of 15 Malaysian automation enterprises visiting and working in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
• 15th December 2007: Successfully held the Third Congress.
• 2009: Participated in the International Industrial Automation Exhibition (IA) in Ho Chi Minh City.
• 2009–2010: Successfully organized the “Ho Chi Minh City Automation Football Tournament.”
• November 2010: Participated in the workshop and provided critical review of the “Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Control and Management Center” project, chaired by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology on 5 November.
• Collaborated with the Ho Chi Minh City Mechanical Engineering Association on the “Productivity – Quality – Lean Practices for Vietnamese Enterprises” Program, chaired by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology.
• August–October 2011: Successfully organized the Automation Futsal 2011 Tournament.
• August–October 2012: Successfully organized the Automation Futsal 2012 Tournament.
• 2013: Launched the Association’s website.
• 15th November 2014: Officially renamed the “HO CHI MINH CITY AUTOMATION ASSOCIATION.”
• 29th March 2014: Successfully held the Fourth Congress. Established two divisions: the Manufacturing and Business Division (replacing the Business Club) and the Research and Training Division.
• 2014: Received a Certificate of Merit from the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations for outstanding achievements in association affairs and the advancement of science and technology.
• November 2014: Received Decision No. 5645/QĐ-UBND authorizing the renaming of the Association as the Ho Chi Minh City Automation Association, together with the amended and supplemented Charter issued with the Decision.
• 13th December 2014: Established the Automation Engineers Club under the Ho Chi Minh City Automation Association.
• 23rd January 2015: Successfully organized a gathering of all members of the Ho Chi Minh City Automation Association.
• 18–20th August 2015: Collaborated with the Vietnam Automation Association to participate in the Vietnam International Industrial and Residential Electrical and Automation Exhibition 2015 in Ho Chi Minh City.
• 28th October 2015: Successfully organized Automation Day 2015 under the theme “Celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh City Automation Association” and received a Commendation Flag from the Vietnam Automation Association.
• 28th November 2024: Received a Certificate of Merit from the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee for achievements in association activities during 2019–2024 on the occasion of the Congress of the Ho Chi Minh City Automation Association for its Sixth Term.
• 20th December 2024: Successfully held the Congress of the Ho Chi Minh City Automation Association for its Sixth Term (2024–2029).
• 17th November 2025: Received a Certificate of Commendation from the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Science and Technology Associations for outstanding achievements in association activities, contributing to the development of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Science and Technology Associations, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh City Automation Association.
• 27th November 2025: Organized the 30th Anniversary Ceremony of the Ho Chi Minh City Automation Association and Automation Day 2026.
• 26th December 2025: Successfully held the Extraordinary Congress for the First Term (2025–2030) following the merger of Binh Duong and Ba Ria–Vung Tau provinces into the new Ho Chi Minh City.
• 12th June 2026: The Charter of the Ho Chi Minh City Automation Association was approved.
